WIESBADEN – In 2019, 3,059 people were killed in road traffic accidents in Germany. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a decline of 216, or 6.6%, on 2018 (3,275 road deaths). The number of traffic accident fatalities was the lowest since this statistics had first been compiled more than 60 years ago. The number of persons injured also declined in 2019, by 3.0% to roughly 384,000, compared with a year earlier.
