Business insolvency requests, November 2019
-7.5% on the same month a year earlier
WIESBADEN – German local courts reported 1,413 business insolvencies in November 2019. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decline of 7.5% compared with November 2018. Despite the decline in business insolvency requests, the prospective debts owed to creditors (3.4 billion euros) were markedly higher than a year earlier: in November 2018 they had totalled 1.1 billion euros. This increase in prospective debts despite the smaller number of business insolvencies is due to the fact that in November 2019 business insolvency requests were filed by a larger number of economically important businesses than in the same month of 2018.
