Press Desired hours of work in 2018: 2.2 million persons in employment would like to work more, 1.4 million less

WIESBADEN – In 2018, roughly 2.2 million persons in employment aged 15 to 74 years wanted to work more hours (underemployed), while just over 1.4 million wanted to work less (overemployed). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that underemployed people usually worked an average 28.9 hours per week and wanted to work 10.6 hours more. Overemployed people worked an average 41.6 hours per week and wanted to work 10.8 hours less.
