WIESBADEN – Energy consumption directly related to greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions in Germany was down 4.7% from 12,320 to 11,736 petajoules between 2010 and 2017. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the consumption of mineral oil (36.0%), gases (27.4%) and coal (23.1%) contributed mainly to emission-relevant energy consumption in 2017. Renewable energy sources like wood, biodiesel or municipal waste accounted for 9.5%.
