Press release No. N016 of 23 December 2019
WIESBADEN – There is hardly anything more typical of Christmas than the Christmas tree. Typical features are its rather unusual position within the dwelling and, above all, its decorations. Christmas tree balls, tinsel and other Christmas articles are more and more popular in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that roughly 17,720 tonnes of Christmas articles to the value of about 143 million euros were imported in 2018. Compared with a year earlier, the value of such imports rose by 12%.
