WIESBADEN – Industry and the service sector in Germany generated a turnover of approximately 49.4 billion euros in 2017 from goods and services for environmental protection. Climate protection is in fact the main pillar of the entire environmental industry (73.9 billion euros) in economic terms. The Federal Statistical Office also reports that most of the turnover from climate protection products was generated within the country (60.5%, or 29.9 billion euros). Climate protection products include goods and services enabling the use of renewable energy sources, increasing energy efficiency and energy savings, and reducing or avoiding greenhouse gas emissions.
