WIESBADEN – In 2017, enterprises in industry (not including construction) invested 8.4 billion euros in environmental protection. The waste water management branch accounted for the largest proportion of this, at 3.6 billion euros (42.7%). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that investments in this environmental area rose by 14.1% (443 million euros) compared with 2016. Waste water management comprises plants, facilities and measures for reducing the waste water quantity or waste water load (reduction or removal of solid matters and dissolved solids and for reducing the amount of heat).
