WIESBADEN – In 2018, 2.4 million children and young people in Deutschland were at risk of poverty and social exclusion. That was 6% less than a year earlier. At the same time, the youth welfare offices recognised an endangerment of the best interests of the child or young person in roughly 50,400 cases, which is 10% more than in 2017.
To coincide with the International Children's Rights Day on 20 November 2019, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has compiled facts on the situation of the total of roughly 13.6 million million children and young people in Germany for 2018.
