• Proportion of men still high in many technical occupations
WIESBADEN – Many technical jobs in Germany are still dominated by men. In 2018, nearly 2 million men worked in the mechanical and automotive engineering occupational group. The proportion of men there (89%) was by 4 percentage points higher than in computer science, information and communication technology (ICT) occupations, where 900,000 men (85%) were employed.
This is reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of the microcensus to coincide with the International Men's Day on 19 November 2019.
