WIESBADEN – Winegrowers in Germany expect yields in 2019 to be down 13% on the previous year. Based on first estimates, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that a quantity of 9.04 million hectolitres of wine is expected in 2019. Due to good weather conditions, the quantity of the 2018 vintage was as much as 10.4 million hectolitres. Compared with the average for the period from 2013 to 2018, the quantity harvested in 2019 is expected to be higher by 0.12 million hectolitres (+1.4%).
