Press release No. 356 of 13 September 2019
WIESBADEN – Compared with other European countries, online ridesharing agencies are rarely used in Germany. To mark the European Mobility Week, which will be held from 16 to 22 September, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that in 2018 only 2% of the 16 to 74-year-olds booked private ridesharing services via specialised websites or apps. It is much more common in other counties of the European Union (EU) to book private ridesharing services on the internet. Estonia is well ahead of the other EU countries. In 2018, 22% of the population used private transport services there. The EU average stood at 6%.
