4% decline in post-doctoral lecturing qualifications compared with 2017
WIESBADEN – A total of 1,529 scientists completed their post-doctoral lecturing qualifications (habilitations) at universities in Germany in 2018. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the total of habilitations declined by roughly 4% compared with the previous year. At the same time, the number of women who obtained a post-doctoral lecturing qualification rose by 4% to 483. Habilitations by women accounted for 32% of all post-doctoral lecturing qualifications obtained in 2018. In 2008, it still amounted to 23%.
