Press release No. 249 of 28 June 2019
Funding for upgrading training assistance up 3.9% year-on-year
WIESBADEN – The number of recipients of assistance pursuant to the Upgrading Training Assistance Act rose by 2,600 to 167,000 in 2018, a 1.6% increase compared with a year earlier. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that just over a third of the recipients were women. Their number increased by 6.3% to 62,000 compared with 2017. This was mainly due to gradual adjustments of the provisions of Land legislation concerning childcare and educator occupations. As a result, people in these occupations have, for several years, been able to receive upgrading training assistance for participation in continuing training activities. Just under two thirds of the recipients were men. Their number fell by 1.0% to 105,000 compared with 2017.
