WIESBADEN – In 2018 the breweries in Germany produced roughly 8.7 billion litres of beer (excl. non-alcoholic beer). To coincide with the German Beer Day on 23 April, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the annual production of beer increased by 184 million litres, or 2.2%, compared with 2017. Reasons for this increase may have been not least the hot and long summer season and the 2018 Football World Cup.
