WIESBADEN – Approximately 122.6 million passengers boarded flights from the 24 largest commercial airports in Germany in 2018, which is the highest number since records began. To coincide with the ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin from 6 to 10 March 2019, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 4.2% compared with 2017. An average of just under 336,000 passengers boarded planes each calendar day in 2018. This figure is almost equal to the population of the German city of Bielefeld.
