WIESBADEN – In autumn 2018, agricultural holdings in Germany sowed winter grain on 5.43 million hectares of land for the next harvest of 2019. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the areas cultivated with winter grain for the 2019 harvest are by 438,800 hectares larger (+9%) than the relevant areas in 2018. Winter grain comprises winter wheat, winter barley, rye and maslin as well as triticale (wheat-rye hybrid).
