WIESBADEN – The debt owed by municipalities/associations of municipalities in Germany to the non-public sector amounted to 269.2 billion euros at the end of 2017. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the relevant per capita debt was 3,519 euros. However, there were large regional differences in municipal per capita debt.
