WIESBADEN – In 2017, the costs of in-patient treatment in hospitals amounted to roughly 91.3 billion euros. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 3.9% year on year (87.8 billion euros in 2016).
When related to roughly 19.4 million people who were treated as in-patients in hospital in 2017, the costs of in-patient treatment per case averaged 4,695 euros, which was 4.4% more than a year earlier (4,497 euros).
