Press Statistical Advisory Committee supports digital change in the sphere of statistics

Press release No. 414 of 25 October 2018

WIESBADEN – The spread of digital technology in modern society has a strong impact on economic processes, the public sector and thus also the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). This is the view of the Statistical Advisory Committee, the body for users, respondents and producers of federal statistics. Looking ahead to the next four years, the advisory body of the Federal Statistical Office made 26 recommendations and identified three action areas of outstanding importance for using the potential of the digital change in official statistics: creating a modern infrastructure for register-based statistics, changing over to an integrated register census after the 2021 Census, and using new digital data for official statistics.
