WIESBADEN – In 2017, the number of live births in Germany was 785,000. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a decline of 7,000 newborn children, or 0.9%, compared with 2016 (792,000).
As 933,000 people died in 2017, the number of deaths was up 2.4% on the previous year (2016: 911,000)
All in all, 407,000 couples married in 2017.
