Press Cardiovascular diseases cause highest costs

WIESBADEN – The costs of illness caused by cardiovascular diseases amounted to 46.4 billion euros in Germany in 2015. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this group of diseases accounted for roughly 13.7% of the total costs of illness, amounting to 338.2 billion euros, closely followed by mental and behavioural disorders (44.4 billion euros or 13.1%).
