WIESBADEN – In 2015, the consumption of household energy (adjusted for weather-induced temperature effects) rose by 2.1% compared with 2014. The increase was observed for all energy sources except electricity. According to calculations of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), consumption was more or less the same as in 2012 (+0.5%). In contrast, energy consumption declined by 6.1% in the period from 2005 to 2012. On the whole, the energy consumption of households for housing purposes has decreased by 5.7% in the last ten years.
