WIESBADEN – In 2015, roughly 739,500 defendants were convicted by a final judgment in Germany, which was a decrease of 1.2% on 2014 (748,800). As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the number of defendants convicted declined by 18% compared with 2007, when criminal prosecution statistics were compiled for the first time for the whole of Germany.
