WIESBADEN – In 2016 the index of producer prices for industrial products (domestic sales) for Germany fell by 1.7% on an annual average from the preceding year, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). A year before the index had fallen by 1.8%.
Results of December 2016
In December 2016 the index of producer prices for industrial products rose by 1.0% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. This was the highest positive annual rate of change since January 2013 (+1.5%). In November 2016 the annual rate of change all over had been +0.1%.
Compared with the preceding month November 2016 the overall index rose by 0.4% in December 2016 (0.3% in November and 0.7% in October).
In December 2016 prices of non-durable consumer goods increased by 2.1% compared with December 2015, prices of intermediate goods and prices of durable consumer goods each rose by 1.1%. Prices of capital goods increased by 0.6%, energy prices by 0.2%.
The overall index disregarding energy rose by 1.2% compared with December 2015 and by 0.3% compared with November 2016.
