WIESBADEN – In the winter semester of 2015/2016, 34,800 occasional students attended courses and lectures at German institutions of higher education. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that 18,200 of them (52%) were aged 60 years or over. Compared with the winter semester of 2014/2015, the number of occasional students rose by 3%, following decreases in the last three years.
