Press 40% of all primary school pupils move to grammar school

WIESBADEN – For pupils entering fifth grade, grammar school is the number one among secondary schools. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that, after fourth grade, 40% of the 661,600 primary school pupils moved to a grammar school, 17% to an intermediate school, 15% to an integrated comprehensive school, and 12% to a school with various courses of education at the beginning of school year 2014/2015. After the fourth grade of primary school, 8% attended a secondary general school, 7% an orientation stage independent of school type, 0.4% a special school, and 0.1% a Free Waldorf School.
