Press 35% more time spent on unpaid than on paid work

WIESBADEN – In 2013, Germany's population spent 35% more time on unpaid than on paid work. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, in monetary terms, the time spent doing unpaid work equalled a value of 826 billion euros. This value for unpaid work in the household, for taking care of family members, neighbourly help and voluntary and community work was higher than the net wages and salaries of all employees (780 billion euros).
