Press Turnover in manufacturing in February 2016: –0.5% seasonally adjusted on the previous month

WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional data, the manufacturing sector saw turnover fall in real terms adjusted for seasonal fluctuations and working-day variations 0.5% in February 2016 compared with January 2016. In January 2016, the corrected figure shows an increase of 0.8% (primary +1.1%) from December 2015.

In February 2016, domestic turnover decreased by 0.8% and the business with foreign customers declined by 0.3%. Sales to euro area countries were 0.6% below, and sales to other countries 0.1% below preceding month’s level.

Compared with the preceding year, real turnover in manufacturing showed a total increase of 1.3% in February 2016 after having been adjusted for working-day variations. In domestic sales an increase of 1.9% was observed. Turnover from business with foreign customers rose by 0.9%. Among foreign transactions, sales to euro area countries increased by 3.1%, while turnover with other foreign countries declined by 0.6%.

Cumulated from January to February 2016, the (working-day adjusted) turnover in manufacturing was 1.7% above the level of the same period of the previous year; domestic turnover increased 2.1% and foreign turnover increased 1.1%.
