Press Surplus of 29.5 billion euros in overall public budget of 2015

WIESBADEN – According to provisional results of quarterly cash statistics, the core and extra budgets of the overall public budget in 2015 recorded the highest financial surplus ever (as defined in public finance statistics): 29.5 billion euros. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the financial balance improved by 21.4 billion euros compared with the previous year. In 2014, the overall public budget recorded a cash surplus of 8.1 billion euros. 

The financial balance of the overall public budget is calculated as the difference between public revenue (1,304.0 billion euros) and public expenditure (1,274.5 billion euros). Public revenue rose by 4.8% in 2015 on the previous year.
