WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the index of import prices decreased by 5.7% in February 2016 compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In January 2016 and in December 2015 the annual rates of change were –3.8% and –3.1%, respectively. From January to February 2016 the index fell by 0.6%.
The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, decreased by 2.8% compared with the level of a year earlier.
The index of export prices decreased by 1.2% in February 2016 compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In January 2016 and in December 2015 the annual rates of change were –0.5% and +0.2%, respectively. From January to February 2016 the index fell by 0.5%.
