WIESBADEN – In 2014, approximately 748,800 defendants were convicted by a final judgment in Germany, which was a decrease of just under 1% on 2013 (755,900). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of defendants convicted declined by roughly 17% compared with 2007, when criminal prosecution statistics were compiled for the first time in all the Länder.
