Press 2015 wine imports down on a year earlier

WIESBADEN – In 2015, wine imports to Germany decreased by 1.0% in terms of quantity and by 3.1% in terms of value compared with 2014. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that more than 1.4 billion litres of wine worth 2.0 billion euros were imported. This was a decrease of 14.6 million litres from 2014. The import value declined by 64.4 million euros.

As in the past, the most important country of origin of the wines imported to Germany was Italy, accounting for 480 million litres (–1.5%). Spain ranked second with 364 million litres, which was an increase of 7.1%, and was followed by France with 206 million litres (–14.6%).
