WIESBADEN – Roughly 11.0 million pupils are receiving education in schools of general education and vocational schools in Germany in school year 2015/2016. Based on provisional data, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this is a slight decline of 0.4% compared with the previous school year. The downward trend observed since school year 2000/2001 continued.
A total of 8.3 million pupils attend general-education schools in the current school year. Compared with a year earlier, the number declined by 0.4%.
