WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional data, the manufacturing sector saw turnover rise in real terms adjusted for seasonal fluctuations and working-day variations 1.1% in January 2016 compared with December 2015. In December 2015, the corrected figure shows an increase of 2.1% (primary +1.8%) from November 2015.
In January 2016, domestic turnover increased by 2.2% and the business with foreign customers was at the level of the previous month. Sales to euro area countries were 0.8% below, and sales to other countries 0.5% above preceding month’s level.
Compared with the preceding year, real turnover in manufacturing showed a total increase of 1.5% in January 2016 after having been adjusted for working-day variations. In domestic sales an increase of 1.8% was observed. Turnover from business with foreign customers rose by 1.3%. Among foreign transactions, sales to euro area countries increased by 3.9%, while turnover with other foreign countries declined by 0.6%.
