Press Boys have a life expectancy of 78 years, girls of 83 years

WIESBADEN – Life expectancy in Germany is increasing further. According to the period life table for 2012/2014 related to the current mortality situation, the life expectancy of newborn boys is 78 years and 2 months and that of newborn girls is 83 years and 1 month. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, in the last ten years, the life expectancy of newborn boys has increased by 2 years and 3 months and that of newborn girls by 1 year and 6 months compared with the life table for 2002/2004.

For older people, too, life expectancy has increased further. According to the life table for 2012/2014, 65-year-old men, for example, now have a remaining life expectancy - also referred to as further life expectancy - of 17 years and 8 months. In statistical terms, 65-year-old women can expect to live almost another 21 years.
