WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the index of import prices decreased by 3.8% in January 2016 compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In December 2015 and in November 2015 the annual rates of change were –3.1% and –3.5%, respectively. From December 2015 to January 2016 the index fell by 1.5%.
The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, decreased by 2.0% compared with the level of a year earlier.
The index of export prices decreased by 0.5% in January 2016 compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In December 2015 and in November 2015 the annual rates of change were +0.2% and +0.3%, respectively. From December 2015 to January 2016 the index fell by 0.2%.
