WIESBADEN – German local courts reported 1,880 business insolvencies in November 2015, which was an increase of 3.5% compared with November 2014. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that a similar year-on-year increase in the number of business insolvencies was last observed in July 2015 (+3.6%). Before that period the number of business insolvencies had declined year on year as of November 2012, with the exception of four months.
The local courts reported that, in relation to the business insolvency requests, the prospective debts owed to creditors amounted to roughly 1.4 billion euros in November 2015. In November 2014 they totalled roughly 1.6 billion euros.
