Press Strong increase of 2.5% in real earnings in 2015

WIESBADEN – According to provisional results of the quarterly survey of earnings, the index of real earnings in Germany rose 2.5% in 2015 compared with a year earlier. This was the largest increase in the index of real earnings recorded since the beginning of the time series in 2008. The Federal Statistical Office also reports that, in addition to the moderate development of consumer prices (+0.3%), the real growth was also due to the increase in nominal earnings (+2.8%), which was slightly above average compared with the previous five years.
