WIESBADEN – The inflation rate in Germany as measured by the consumer price index is expected to be +0.5% in January 2016. Based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the consumer prices will decline by 0.8% on December 2015.

The harmonised index of consumer prices for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to be up 0.4% in January 2016 year on year. Compared with December 2015, it is expected to decrease by 1.0%.
The final results for January 2016 will be released on 12 February 2016. The harmonised index of consumer prices with the provisional result released today, that is, on 28 January 2016 is the last published on index base 2005 = 100 as a new index base (2015 = 100) will be introduced afterwards.
