Press Import prices in 2015: –2.6% on 2014

WIESBADEN – The index of import prices fell by 2.6% on an annual average in 2015 compared with 2014, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). In December it decreased by 3.1% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In November and in October 2015 the annual rates of change were –3.5% and –4.1%, respectively. From November to December 2015 the index fell by 1.2%. 

In 2015 the index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, was on an annual average 1.1% above the level of a year earlier. In December 2015 it decreased by 0.9% compared to December 2014 and in comparison with November 2015 it fell by 0.4%.

The index of export prices increased by 0.9% on an annual average in 2015 from the previous year. In December 2015, it increased by 0.2% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year. In November and in October 2015 the annual rates of change were +0.3% and +0.2%, respectively. From November to December 2015 the index fell by 0.4%.
