WIESBADEN – German local courts reported 1,996 business insolvencies in October 2015, which was a decline of 6.1% compared with October 2014. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports this on the basis of provisional results. The last year-on-year increase in the number of business insolvencies was recorded in July 2015 (+3.6%). Before that period, however, the number of business insolvencies had declined year on year as of November 2012, with the exception of four months.
The local courts reported that, in relation to the business insolvency requests, the prospective debts owed to creditors amounted to roughly 1.3 billion euros in October 2015. In October 2014 they totalled just under 1.9 billion euros.
