Press Turnover in manufacturing in November 2015: –2.3% seasonally adjusted on the previous month

WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional data, the manufacturing sector saw turnover fall in real terms adjusted for seasonal fluctuations and working-day variations 2.3% in November 2015 compared with October 2015. In October 2015, the corrected figure shows a decrease of 1.8% (primary +2.0%) from September 2015. 

In November 2015, domestic turnover decreased by 2.4% and the business with foreign customers by 2.1%. Sales to euro area countries were 2.6% above, while sales to other countries 5.2% below preceding month’s level. 

Compared with the preceding year, real turnover in manufacturing showed a total decrease of 0.5% in November 2015 after having been adjusted for working-day variations. In domestic sales, a decrease of 0.6% was observed and turnover from business with foreign customers fell by 0.4%. Among foreign transactions, sales to euro area countries increased by 6.4%, while turnover with other foreign countries declined by 4.8%. 

Cumulated from January to November 2015, the real turnover in manufacturing (working-day adjusted) was 1.6% above the level of the same period of the previous year; domestic turnover ascended 0.4% and foreign turnover increased 2.7%.
