WIESBADEN – Germany exported goods to the value of 102.2 billion euros and imported goods to the value of 81.7 billion euros in November 2015. Based on provisional data, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that German exports increased by 7.7% and imports by 5.3% in November 2015 year on year. Compared with October 2015, exports increased by 0.4% and imports by 1.6% in calendar and seasonally adjusted terms.
The foreign trade balance showed a surplus of 20.6 billion euros in November 2015. In November 2014, the surplus amounted to 17.4 billion euros. In calendar and seasonally adjusted terms, the foreign trade balance recorded a surplus of 19.7 billion euros in November 2015.
According to provisional results of the Deutsche Bundesbank, the current account of the balance of payments showed a surplus of 24.7 billion euros in November 2015, which takes into account the balances of trade in goods including supplementary trade items (+22.7 billion euros), services (–1.9 billion euros), primary income (+6.5 billion euros) and secondary income (–2.5 billion euros). In November 2014, the German current account showed a surplus of 18.5 billion euros.
In November 2015, Germany dispatched goods to the value of 60.7 billion euros to the Member States of the European Union (EU), while it received goods to the value of 54.2 billion euros from those countries. Compared with November 2014, exports to the EU countries increased by 9.5%, and imports from those countries by 6.3%. Goods to the value of 37.8 billion euros (+8.8%) were dispatched to the Euro area countries in November 2015, while the value of the goods received from those countries was 36.8 billion euros (+5.5%). In November 2015, goods to the value of 22.9 billion euros (+10.8%) were dispatched to EU countries not belonging to the Euro area, while the value of the goods which arrived from those countries was 17.4 billion euros (+8.2%).
Exports of goods to countries outside the European Union (third countries) amounted to 41.5 billion euros in November 2015, while imports from those countries totalled 27.4 billion euros. Compared with November 2014, exports to third countries increased by 5.1% and imports from those countries by 3.4%.
