The third round of European Statistical System (ESS) peer reviews is carried out in 2021 to 2023. That exercise assesses the national statistical authorities’ compliance with the European Statistics Code of Practice. The most important result of the peer review will be an official report containing recommendations to the German official statistics bodies which will be taken up in the form of concrete measures for improvement. The peer review is of outstanding importance for the development and implementation of innovations within the ESS.
